Spiritual Development

Is there anyway to accelerate the pace of my spiritual development? In the absolute sense, the answer is no. The current which drives your spiritual urgings goes as fast as it goes and you cannot compel it to go any faster. Relatively speaking however, you may indeed accelerate your spiritual maturing by not actively slowing it down with the many obstructions you’ve been crowding your spiritual channel with. Think of Spirit as an ocean. Think of your spiritual channel as an inlet which branches off of the ocean (such as a river, a brook, a creek or such). Is it possible for you to speed the rate at which water flows into your off shooting corridor? No. This rate is fixed. But the more barriers you remove from within your corridors (barriers like rocks, damns, or even the land which constricts the passageway), the more intensely you will feel the effects from the ocean tides as the water flows through your channel because there will be less to disrupt the free flow of the stream. So yes, in a sense, the pace of your development in Spirit is within your control because in each and every moment of your life you are deciding to what degree you will allow yourself to be open to the promptings of spiritual urgings. The rate at which these urgings flow to you are transmitted at a steady pace. But you may disrupt the intensity at which you experience this current by putting obstacles in your spiritual channel. The more you let go of and thus unclog your conduit to Source, the faster your spiritual maturity will develop. Conversely, the more you hold onto and thus obstruct your conduit to Source, the slower your spiritual maturity will develop. You do, therefore, most certainly have a great deal of control over how quickly you develop in Spirit.
